District 10 4-H
4-H is the youth development component of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
Citizenship, leadership, life skills and responsibility through positive experiential learning programs for youths
4-H is open to all youths at least 8 years of age and in grades 3-12. Our K-2 youth program is called Clover Kids. For Clover Kids there are a set list of project areas for them to be involved in.
District 10 4-H is made up of over 10,800 youth from 21 counties in Southwest Texas. Most participants connect to 4-H through their local community or school 4-H clubs, where they are guided by adult 4-H volunteers who serve as club and project leaders.
The benefits of 4-H participation
Studies have shown that 4-H participants from grades 7-12 are roughly 4 times more likely to make contributions to their communities than their non-member peers. They are about twice as likely to be active in civics from Grades 8-12. 4-H youth from grades 10-12 are twice as likely to participate in science, engineering, and computer technology programs during out-of-school time. Meanwhile, 4-H girls in 10th are twice as likely to take part in science programs compared to girls in other out-of-school time activities. That statistic increases to 3 times for STEM extracurriculars by Grade 12.
